My Story
I’m Sarah, a mom of 4 and the owner and creator behind Brushstrokes & Timber. What started as a personal DIY journey in my own home slowly turned into something much bigger. I began by transforming walls in my house and sharing the process online, simply because I loved creating and making spaces feel more personal. As my community grew, people started reaching out and asking if I could do the same kind of work in their homes. What began as Savage DIY Mom eventually grew into a full-time business and became Brushstrokes & Timber. See my current projects on Instagram and Facebook!
Big News!
In 2026, my husband left his corporate job to join me! Together we’re growing Brushstrokes & Timber as a family business, combining hands-on artistry with thoughtful strategy, great service, and a shared vision for building something meaningful together.
It’s been a really special new chapter for us. What started as my business has grown into something we now get to build together, and that feels pretty incredible. I’m still the one leading the creative work and working hands-on with clients, while he helps support the business behind the scenes with marketing, strategy, accounting, and all the other pieces that keep things moving. He also joins me on jobs where it’s handy to have four sets of hands. It’s made Brushstrokes & Timber feel even more personal and has us both really excited for what’s ahead.
What I Do
Wooden Accent Wall Installation: Custom shiplap, board and batten, geometric designs, diamond patterns, and one-of-a-kind feature walls.
Hand Painted Murals: Original murals painted directly onto interior walls, including artistic silhouettes, statement pieces, and custom designs.
Interior Wall Painting: High-quality interior painting with proper prep, clean lines, and long-lasting finishes.
I personally design, build, and paint each project, blending creativity with quality to create spaces that feel intentional and livable. Nothing I do is cookie-cutter. Every project is custom and thoughtfully tailored to the home and the people living in it.
My Approach
At Brushstrokes & Timber, the approach is simple: Listen carefully, design intentionally, and execute with care.
I prioritize clear communication, thoughtful design, and dependable timelines. Clients are involved throughout the process so expectations are aligned and the final result reflects their vision. I treat every home with the same respect I’d expect in my own.
I also love teaching and empowering homeowners. Through my Tips & How-Tos content on Instagram, I share DIY education, painting techniques, and home improvement guidance to help others feel confident tackling projects… or knowing when to call in a professional.

I’ve completed hundreds of projects over the years, and I’m known for creative designs, quality work, and making the process feel just as good as the finished result. I’ve been lucky to work with homeowners, local interior designers, and well-known brands, and so much of my business has come from referrals, repeat clients, and people finding and sharing my work online. That kind of trust means so much to me!
